Amongst the list of shows the my girlfriend has since labeled, “My soap operas,” is one that is now running into it’s 3rd season, and one that I have come quite intrigued in. Leverage is a show about a group of ex-thieves led by an ex insurance agency investigator that now take on unorthodox cases to help people who otherwise would not be able to get assistance through the proper channels of government aid, and they solve theses cases in a very successful, and unorthodox way. They take from the people who are taking advantage, and giving to those who are being taken advantage of by using different ways of leverage. But the plot of the show is not what drive my choice for the song of the day.
On of the actors in the show plays the strong arm, cool guy bit. He’s the the one that gets the team through the door, and out if that may be the case. But in one of the last episodes he had to pretend that he was an up and coming country artist in order to scheme a record label giant to admit his villainous ways. In the act he had to go on stage and sing a song that was, in the show, said to have been written by the client, who was a country artist being taken advantage of by the, so-called, record giant. Any way, in looking into the the actor and the song, it turns out that he, Christian Kane, is, in fact, a country singer/songwriter by trade. Something I never would have guessed, simply judging by his character at least.
What I think is great about Christian Kane is that he grew up in Texas and then moved to Oklahoma to attend the University of Oklahoma, a school in which he would not finish. Kane randomly decided he wanted to act, having no acting experience, and moved to LA to pursue that dream. While preparing for a show that he was originally casted as a comedian, the producer heard him sing, and immediately changed the script to make him a singer instead of a comedian.
This song here is the song he sang in the episode of leverage, and is called, Thinking of You.
I admire this because it shows that if there is something that you really feel in your heart that you want to do, even if it is a far stride from the current path you are walking, then just do it. There is nothing standing in your way other than your own road blocks. If you tear down your ideas of the existence of only one path, and see that there are in fact many ways you can go, then you open up the possible horizons of your future, and after that, anything is possible. So do what you want to do, be who you want to be, and live the life that you want to live.
