This song is to make sure my father is, in fact, reading my blog. Which I have to be honest when I say, I doubt it. But hey, Maybe he’ll prove me wrong.
When my brother and I were little tiny children, My father used to play an assortment of strange music. Most of which we would listen to during our bi-Monthly commute from Morrow Bay to San Diego. One of those band was Men Without Hats. which later went on to sing Safety Dance. But a song that many people, who are aware of the band, don’t know, is Pop Goes The World.
Pop Goes The World was the title track of their album in 1987. The song tells a story of two fictional characters named “Johnny” and “Jenny” who make up the two members of a band whose name and instruments of choice change through out the song. The song talks about their fame in the music industry and then the realization that they could make more money on the big screen. The bands hit song was, in fact, called Pop Goes The World.
