Who doesn’t love a good song.
Which is why I choose one today. A song, that i’m sad to admit, I choose because I quickly glanced at my pile of random films this morning on my way out of the garage, and saw the movie “Garden State,” which I do in fact love, but don’t really feel it’s appropriate to associate with this band. The Shins were formed, originally, as a side project for some members of the band Flake in Albuquerque New Mexico. But after the dismemberment of the band in 1997, the former members of Flake began touring as The Shins and eventually relocated to Portland Oregon. While in San Fransisco during one of their tours, they were approached by a rep from Sub Pop who offered to release their debut album. And so it was done, and now we have the ever wonderful music of The Shins. Who were in fact named after a fictional family in the Broadway show The Music Man.
